How The Poop Valet uses Google Ads
The Poop Valet CRM is a private internal tool that The Poop Valet, a family-owned pet waste removal service in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, uses to manage its own Google Ads account.
What the app is
The Poop Valet CRM (also called the Command Centre) is the back-office tool our owner and staff use to run the business. It brings quote requests, scheduling, customer communication and our advertising together in one place.
It is not a public product and is not offered to other businesses, agencies or customers. The sign-in page is for The Poop Valet's own staff only, and this page explains it for people who cannot sign in.
Why it connects to Google Ads
The app asks the signed-in business owner to authorize access to The Poop Valet's own Google Ads account, using Google sign-in (OAuth). We use that access to:
- View our campaign, ad, keyword and spend reports so we can see which advertising brings in quote requests.
- Prepare new Search campaigns as drafts, check them, and create them in Google Ads paused. Nothing starts spending until the owner separately approves it.
- Make limited changes to our own campaigns: pause or enable them, adjust budgets, and add or remove keywords and negative keywords.
- Research keywords for our local service areas with Google's Keyword Planner.
- Report back to Google, as conversion data, when a website visitor asks for a quote, so we can tell which ads lead to requests.
What Google data the app uses
The app only works with data from The Poop Valet's own Google Ads account: our campaigns, ads, keywords, budgets and performance figures. It does not read the Google data of our customers or of the public.
When a visitor submits a quote request, we may send Google a one-way hashed (SHA-256) form of their email address and phone number, along with the Google click identifier if they arrived from one of our ads, plus a request reference and the time of the request. Google uses this to match the request to an ad. We do not send names, street addresses or the contents of a request.
How the data is protected and limited
- Access is limited to authorized Poop Valet staff who sign in to the admin area. Some staff accounts are read-only.
- Google authorization tokens are stored encrypted on our servers and are never shown in a web page.
- Changes that affect the live Google Ads account need an explicit confirmation, and each change is logged.
- We do not sell Google data, share it with third parties, or use it for anything other than running our own advertising.
- The Poop Valet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your privacy
How we collect and use customer information is described in our Privacy Policy at https://thepoopvalet.ca/privacy-policy. You can revoke the app's access to a Google account at any time from your Google Account's security settings.
